Frequently Asked Questions about Anthrophiles

In today's world of celebrating diversity and championing self expression, you've probably heard terminology used that was new to you, some labels that sound intriguing, but you don't know what they mean yet. In this article, we will be discussing Anthrophiles, people who are attracted to humans.

Do Anthrophiles not like animals at all? Do Anthrophiles DISlike animals?

Anthrophiles can have many different feelings about animals, depending on the individual Anthrophile's upbringing and their personal beliefs. Some Anthrophiles like animals platonically ("Just friends,") while other Anthrophiles may be indifferent to most animals, or yes, some may even say things like "I hate dogs" or "Snakes are scary!" It depends on who you're talking to! If you want to know an Anthrophile's own feelings about animals, it's usually okay to ask. Often times, it's better to start with asking about a specific animal, like asking, "What do you think of dogs?" or "What do you think of horses?"

Can an Anthrophile also be a Zoophile?

Yes! Someone can be attracted to both humans and animals. It can be thought of as a spectrum, sort of like being gay vs being straight: Someone may be bi, or bi curious, and someone may also be a Zoophile who is Anthro-Curious, or be an Anthrophile who is Zoo-Curious. Someone may also like elements of both humans and animals being represented together: Similarly to how someone may be especially attracted to Nonbinary people, Transgender people, or otherwise gender non-conforming people, someone may be especially attracted to Furries or Warrior Cats.

Just like how some people may have experimented with Anthrophilia and found that they actually do prefer animals over humans, it is also possible for someone to experiment with Zoophilia and find that they actually are strictly an Anthrophile, even though they have tried Zoophilia before.

How can I spot if someone is an anthrophile?

Anthrophiles do not typically use dog whistles, or, "coded language" to subtly share that they are attracted to humans. Instead, they will usually discuss their attraction openly. Statements such as, "I think Bill is really good looking," "The wife gave me a ride to the show," or even "I always had such a big crush on Taylor Swift" are usually NOT someone just pretending to be into humans: someone saying these things probably means it!

Signs that someone might be an Anthrophile also include a wedding ring, or posts on social media that describe themself being in a relationship with a human. However, someone may be an anthrophile and not have those things.

It is usually okay to ask if someone is into humans, as long as it's a context where discussing attraction in general is appropriate.

Can an Anthrophile eat a burrito from Chipotle in one breath?

No, most Anthrophiles cannot eat a burrito from Chipotle in one breath. We do think it's hypothetically possible that an Anthrophile has done this before, or that one could in the future, but so far we are not aware of any real life examples of Anthrophiles eating an entire burrito from Chipotle in one breath.

Are Anthrophiles up to anything cool? Do they make any shows or something like that that I could check out?

Anthrophiles make a ton of media! If you put on a movie, tune in to a show, or pick up a book, there are actually better than even odds that an Anthrophile was involved in the creation of that piece of media. While Zoophiles can often feel shy about creating media about Zoosexuality, Anthrophiles will actually very frequently act on video with their face on camera, talking to other humans about love and even openly discussing Anthrosexual bedroom activities. If you want an entertaining, approachable example of Anthrophilic media, check out the movie The Princess Bride!

Closing Thoughts

It's always good to learn more about cultures that are different from your own. By learning about Anthrophiles, we are demonstrating to them that we are interested in their point of view, and we are better equipped to have agreeable interactions with them in the future, since we do share the planet with them, and you're probably going to cross paths with one now and then. Maybe someday one could be your coworker, your friend, or you could find out that one is even a member of your family. It's important to know that just because they're into humans, that doesn't mean they should have to hide it from you, and there is nothing inherently wrong with them. If someone trusts you enough to come out as an anthrophile, we hope that you can give them the love and support that they need without judgement.
