Our 6 Favorite Things About Horses

Hi there dear readers! Today I wanted to show some appreciation for another animal that zoos all over the world are totally infatuated by. We talk all the time about dogs and dogs and more dogs, but there are so many horse lovers out there and I want to let those people know that we see you, we appreciate you, and most important, we understand you. I've begged all the horse zoos I know to write more horse content but they're all busy mucking the stables so, to that end, here's our six favorite things about horses!

1) You can ride them

Frequently, it feels like my canine partner has a lot more energy than me. Sometimes I don't really want to go out for a walk and he clearly does. But unfortunately, it's not like I can really just send him off on his own. Instead, I accompany him, dragging my feet and following behind. Even if I don't want to, my lack of energy usually means he gets a shorter walk in the end. But what if walking him didn't mean that I had to do more work? What if instead, I could take him for a walk where he did all the walking? Insert horses. Instead of having to walk around on your boring legs, you can ride around in style atop a cool horse and go on adventures and stuff together. You can hang out and read a book or write an article or whatever and they can walk around and munch grass or whatever horses do, and it's like you're both bonding doing stuff you like. I just think that sounds awesome as heck.

Wait, can someone fact check me here, is riding horses bad? Thinking about it more, maybe it's weird forcing your partner to just carry you around. Is that unethical? If that is unethical, someone please cut this part of the article out and change it to our five favorite things about horses..

2) They're really big

Get your mind out of the gutter you equiphiles, I don't mean that. I just mean in general. Horses on average are probably the largest animals that you can just kinda go up to and say hi. Generally horses are pretty friendly! Or at least, I think they are? All my horse friends tell me they are. I think there's something about not spooking them, or approaching them from behind? I dunno, that sounds right. There's just something cool about being able to hang out with an animal that people famously used to dress up as with two people needed. That's a lot of animal!

Okay, that's two down, phew. Horses are cool as heck, I've got this!

3) They have shoes

Name another animal that has shoes, am I right? I guess they do make do shoes for if you live in warm cities for dogs so their paws don't burn, but that's more of a temporary thing, horses are always wearing theirs! At least, I think they are? They certainly seem like they'd be a hassle to take off... Wait, lemme just quickly check YouTube and see what the process is like...

They use NAILS to attach horseshoes??? Uh, okay, well, uh... I don't really know if that's a good thing or not. I certainly wouldn't want someone nailing shoes to my feet. What's even the point of a horseshoe anyway? I mean, do they need them? If they don't have horse shoes are their hooves just going to break? Or is it just because we ride horses and so they need more support for their feet? Are we the problem again?

Wait wait wait don't progress to the next one I'm still getting over this, I don't have anything ready yet hold on give me a second here I just need a second to...

4) ..They eat stuff?

Okay, yeah, that's kinda cool right? I mean, they eat things like apples and I think they eat oats and carrots I think although also I don't know what they can't eat so please google all of that. Also if you have a horse partner you'll never have to mow the lawn again, 'cause they'll eat all the grass! I think? Or is that goats. Is that both of them? Wait no I've got this, horses graze right? And I mean, what else would grazing be if not just going around munching grass here and there. Or are they munching things *in* the grass. Oh god, I don't know. Who's stupid idea was this article, 5 things we love about horses written by a raccoon who sees horses in a field a mile away on their way to work, great idea.

Come on, we just need one more thing. Two more things? Did we cut... well whatever. Horses are awesome. I have lots of horse friends. They're great people. I'm sure they're going to read this article, and if I can't even come up with six cool things about horses they're going to be so disappointed... GAH I've got nothing. Let's just role #5 and hopefully it comes to me when we get there.

5) ...............................

Okay I couldn't come up with anything, and there's just nothing under that number now. Super cool. Great list Tarro. Doing a great job representing the horse zoos out there. Horsephile Zeta is gonna bury me..

Wait...

Bury... Die... Sleep... THAT'S IT. I've got it!

Did you know horses sleep standing up? Yeah! You'd think that during the night they'd lay down as that is a thing that horses are also able to do, but nope. Despite their size, they actually stay standing the whole night. Presumably this is because they do take a second to stand up again, so this way if they're woken up by something in the night, they can just run away without a delay! Wow isn't that cool? Haha! Horses sure are great!

And that's it! There are obviously so many other great things about horses that we just couldn't manage to fit on this list, but hey, that's just all the space we have! Tell us your favorite things about horses in the replies! Thanks so much for reading, and ride on (or don't I still don't know where we stand on that) horse zoos! We salute you!
