ZDP is Three!

Three years of sex with animals 🥳

Ever since Tarro and I singlehandedly invented bestiality three years ago, we've gotten a lot of mixed reactions from people. Some people have said "Yuck!" while many other people have said "ayo?" or even "Thank you, Tarro and Alissa: humans and non-humans being able to be in relationships now has changed my life for the better." Not biased, but I would say that bestiality (which was invented by Alissa Dogchurch and Tarro in 2022 when we were brainstorming ideas for a new YouTube channel and then we ended up shifting lanes a little bit) is maybe one of the best inventions of all time. It's no wheel or fire or anything, but it's better than Pringles, like, c'mon, a hot makeout session with a dog who you're in love with is way better than plain Pringles at the very least, and I would even take dog kisses over pizza flavored pringles too, nine days out of ten.

Some people have been all like "YoU CaN't JuSt iNvEnT BeStIaLiTy To mAkE a MAgaZiNe AbOuT iT!!" to which I have always said, "Watch me, babyyyyy >:3"

lol, anyways, hi, Alissa here. Boy oh boy, three years of twice-weekly articles about zoosexuality and related topics. Turns out there's a LOT to say about zoosexuality! From deeply felt personal stories about our animal-entwined lives, to analysis of how other media is portraying zoosexuals, to lots of jokes, to zooey wishes for the future, I would say that at this point, there can be no doubt that we've covered a very rich, full body of work on zoosexuality. Thank you so much to our readers, and to our writers.

This is a conversation, a thing that is living and expanding and improving. I cannot tell you how often Tarro and I look back on the early days of this magazine and go, "lol, lmao, what the hell were we doing?" There was a time when we were a lot more... crude is almost the right word, but I don't mean "crude" as in "dirty," although we were also kind of dirty sometimes in ways that were a bit much by our current style guide's standards. But no, when I say that we used to be "crude," I kind of mean it more in the sense of "primordial," "unpolished," there wasn't really anything quite like us out there yet, and so we kind of had to figure a lot out without having any other trailblazers' footsteps to follow after. Zooier Than Thou is similar to us in some ways, but not the same; the old zoophile homepages of web 1.0 were similar to us in some ways, but not the same; Tumblr probably had something going on that was exactly what we do and we could have copied off Tumblr, but nobody on our editing team knows how to use Tumblr, so Tumblr was no help either unfortunately. But yeah: As this thing has gone along for the last three years, so many hands have helped shape it: lots of reader feedback, voices and insights from the different authors we've gotten to feature, the tech team, the Discord mod team, cross-pollination of ideas from chatting with all the popuzoos we can, and, again, the fact that we've been doing this for three years, twice weekly.

I want to take a moment to really appreciate how the sheer volume of content here matters.

I sincerely believe that as it stands right now, ZDP is a unique, unprecedented, and remarkable body of writing. Like, really, it's remarkable what a difference there is between "This is my single blog post about zoosexuality" and "These are my 5 blog posts about zoosexuality" and "These are hundreds of essays written by dozens of different writers each talking about their experiences and thoughts regarding zoosexuality."

The first case, of somebody just writing a single blog post about zoosexuality: I support that 100%, both as an important form of self-expression for the author, AND for its ability to positively impact those who find it. I remember back in the days way-way-way-way-way before ZDP existed, back before Zooier Than Thou, any time I found ANY writing about zoophilia, I treasured it. Literally just someone being like... okay I was going to put an example here, but actually realistically, 99% of the time it was just somebody artlessly listing off the different times they had sex with an animal and then hitting Send Post. But still! I was like, "Wowie, another human has had sex with dogs before too! I'm not the only one!" Anyways, the point is, somebody writing a single blog post about zoosexuality, back when there wasn't a ton of zoo writing going on: it's cool, and good, but *as* a piece of writing, it wasn't ever very likely to accomplish anything very much deeper than surface level. "Webster's dictionary defines zoophile as"-level stuff.

The *second* case, of somebody writing multiple blog posts/essays/anecdotes about zoosexuality: now we're really getting somewhere. Now it's not just a case of, "Let me define zoophilia, okay uh, so anyways I've had sex with animals, it was pretty hot, Send Post." Now, with multiple entries, the author has the time and freedom to explore zooiness from more angles, and dig into topics with more depth. There can still be that intro 101 essay, defining zoophilia etc etc, but now there can also be a blog post about "how I discovered I was a zoo," a blog post about "coming out to my friends" (or probably "how I got caught by my friends" lmao), a blog post about "my time with Riley the Yellow Lab." With more content, we are able to get a much richer picture of what this whole "life as a zoo" thing entails.

It's the fact that it's "more content" that matters here: whether that content actually is divided into more entries, or whether it actually is still just one blog post but it's the length of 5, you get the idea. As the amount of writing increases, the amount that can be said in that writing increases.

So when we get to the *third* case... *our* case... hundreds of essays by dozens of writers, all curated under one banner, all on the topic of zoosexuality... three years of ongoing conversation... y'all. That is BIG.

This is zoo visibility like the world has never seen before, imo.

To you, the reader, whoever you are, I want to say thank you for participating in this with us.

And if you're in college or 8th grade or something and need a topic for a research paper, I bet a deep-dive into ZDP could fill thirty pages in no time. Forward it to the team if you do do something like that, and let us know what your teacher thought: maybe next year if a ton of people have actually done it, the Four Year Anniversary article will be a compilation of what teachers said about everyone's zoo homework.

Stay Proud! Be so proud of zoosexuality that it makes people really angry/happy! AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
