Zoosexuality Is Officially Recognized By The LGBTQIA+!

Wow! We've wondered for so long now if it was ever actually going to happen, and then boom, just like that, it's official! The LGBTQIA+ has officially recognized zoosexuality/zoophilia!

Last year, we mailed in our application to be officially considered for recognition. We included our pride flag, our general ethos such as the zeta principles and what our attraction means to us, and then we crossed our fingers for good luck and hoped that we would be accepted.

And it worked out! Zoos are now officially part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Part of our success can definitely be attributed to how many zoosexuals are bi and/or trans. We didn't just have a foot in the door: we were already through the door, and just kind of standing around and waiting to see if anyone would notice us. I can hardly think of any zoos at all who aren't into both good boys and good girls, depending on species. Even the gayest zoos I know are still like, "Men, stud dogs, stallions, okay sure yes mares too how could I say no?" You don't have to be bi to be a zoo, I can think of a couple zoos who actually are straight, I'm just saying I can think of way more zoos who fall under the "B" heading of "LGBT." And as far as gender identity, being a trans woman is so hype in the zoo sphere. If you're AMAB, into dogs, and identify as she/her, then you've got a lot of good company.

So, a lot of zoosexuals already did consider themselves lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex, asexual (we love our asexual zoos), and more. In a lot of ways, we were included in the LGBTQIA+ already, because of those other attributes about ourselves. But now, the zoosexual element is officially recognized as well.

In our letter of acceptance, what the LGBT officially recognized was this: Queerness is defined by a sexuality or gender identity that is outside of heteronormativity; getting your thang licked by a dog isn't talked about all that often in heteronormative romance; and boom, we were in! One line that stood out to me was, "If you go to a drag show, you can see humans performing all kinds of genders: not just male and female, but also nonbinary, 'other,' costumes and acts which poke at the very idea of what gender even is. Now consider the appearances and behaviors of stud dogs and bitches; stallions and mares; and so on. To say that animals cannot be analyzed through the lens of gender is laughable. And so, we find it not only natural, but also logical, that an attraction to animals can be considered a queer sexuality. Staring longingly at a dog's lipstick is queer as hell, yeah baby!"

The LGBTQ officials also acknowledged several factors about zoosexuality that were parallel to other queer experiences. For example, the current legal status, they remarked, is very similar to what the law and culture around homosexuality used to be like, and they said that they wanted to get ahead of the ball this time. They also had remarks about how "coming out" to friends and loved ones has a similar vibe whether you're a closeted gay or a closeted zoo.

One of the officials even admitted to having some confusion, because he thought zoosexuals had already been made a part of the LGBTQIA+, but then it was pointed out that he was thinking of furries. Everyone had a good laugh about that, and he gave a vote in support of officially recognizing zoos as well. The vote was actually unanimous too! Every LGBTQIA+ official voted to accept zoophilia!

Today, November 23, 2024, is a historic day for queer history. Today, November 23, 2024, is the day that Zoophilia was Officially Accepted into the LGBTQIA+. (Zoo pride week remains the same date)
